Darkest Solitude

I watched the blade of your knife dance between the webs of your fingers intricately. A pattern that only you would know. A skill that you had spent years perfecting. I heard the slurring in your words a clear sign that too much fireball had entered your blood. I saw the wonder in your eyes as the acid you had placed on your tongue invaded your mind. It scared me. You were new and unknown and I was fragile and naive. You spoke with words that carried so much depth and meaning and I was intoxicated by your intelligence. I watched the edges of your mouth drawn down to your chin in a frowning smirk that I had never seen before. You wore it with confidence. The look on your face was something out of a nightmare but it somehow became my fantasy. You were the villain in a fairytale I couldn't help but love, the underdog I rooted for from the moment I saw your hand stretch out of a window serenading me in a moment only we could share. You opened the door to a world that I had never explored before. With no map to direct me through the curves and corners of your mind I used the compass of my heart to find my way. Following it no matter where it took me. The minerals in your mountains lead me astray and soon I found myself in your woods. A place where dark deep thoughts ran free. I was unprepared for the realization that these things lived inside of you. You were unlike any creature I had ever witnessed before. You were magical and mysterious. You saw yourself as mere coal but I found the facets and clarity that classified you as a diamond. Raw, uncut, so Magnificat in your natural form that anyone would be a fool to cut you down to their idea of perfection. You were hidden away in a mine, and I with no experience decided to go searching in the furthest edges of your world to find it and bring it into the light so that everyone could see how brilliant you were. I was wrong to do so. See somethings don't need light to be beautiful and you were one of them. You shone through the blackness of the caverns where you hid and that dark cave became a place of solitude for my wondrous soul.

This is an extremely deep story that resonated with me, and it felt like it was about someone in a rather toxic relationship that couldn't come out...I love it very much, actually. Only critique wouls be that you misspelled "Magnificant" on one of the lines, the one describing how you see the person as a sparkling jewel. Still, very well done.
