It was a calm dark night. Many were sleeping, but for two children. They sat in bed whispering to each other, being that their mother was sleeping in the same room as them, the two did not wish to wake her. The two were siblings, one older, being 10, the younger was 9. They had bunk beds, but were both on the top bunk. "So now what?" Asked the older sibling, whose name was Steve. "Ummm... I don't know? Maybe we could look out the window?" Suggested the younger sibling, whose name was Lily. "Ok!" Whispered Steve, the nice, adventurous, sensitive boy. They watched out the window for a while, nothing happened. No animals, no people, no nothing. Steve looked away from the window and sat there, in bed, doing... Nothing... "What's wrong?" Asked Lily, the anoyying, shithead, younger one. "Ugh, nothing's happening... Its boring!" He whisper shouted. "Fine then." Lily whispered in response while also looking away. Lily looked at her brothers face and stared in shock. She covered her face with her palms. "Hmm? What? What is it? What's wrong?" Steve asked, frightened. "Don't look at me!" Lily pleaded in fear. "Your face is scary again!" She cried. "Oh..." He looked down. "You're just seeing things!" He tried to joke. Lily looked up and said, "Just don't show me your face, ok?" Steve looked at her, purposely taunting her. "Stop!" She whisper shouted, getting very fearful. "You're seeing things! Its just me!" He joked. "Stop! Please!" She begged him, almost crying. She looked away to the coat hanging on the door, seeing a scary skeleton like face staring back at her, with a long body and hands hanging down, as if dead, but alive. She covered her eyes and started crying, and Steve felt bad and tried comforting her. "Its ok! Their just shadows! Its me ok? And that's just a jacket!" He told her softly. "But-but they look so scary! A-and your f-face... You look like a c-clown..." She sobbed. "Shhh... Shhh... Its ok your just seeing things... It's me ok? It's me." He told her sternly but softly. He put a blanket over his head in an attempt to hide his "scary" face. "Better?" He asked. "Mhmm..." She nodded. He layed her down and put a blanket over her. He was trying to get her asleep so she'd stop seeing these things. "Go to sleep." He told her. "Go to sleep and I'll protect you."
