Chapter one Each year all the sixteen years olds from all over the city go to the capital building to see which ones of them will be chosen to become Ninjas and protect the city from threats. And that day is today. No one in my family has ever been chosen, but that could change at any time. Last week I turned sixteen, so I have no choice but to go. I climb out of bed and slip into my tight purple dress and black high-heel boots. Then I go into the bathroom and tie up my sleek black hair into a pony-tail. When I am done I go downstairs and eat breakfast. Once I am finished, my Mom, Dad and I leave the house and walk down the front steps and head towards the capital building. Once we get there, we sit down and wait for the ceremony to begin. A few minutes later a tall man wearing black leather steps onto the podium in front of all the seats and starts speaking into a microphone. “Ladies and gentlemen. I am Peter Johnson, the leader of this year's testing ceremony. Where some lucky sixteen years olds will be tested to be this year's protectors of the city. There is one rule. You must have the right blood type. The rarest one of them all. I will call your names in alphabetical order. When your name is called you will come down to the front and take the knife and cut your hand, then you will drop your blood into a glass. Over the week we will test your blood to see if you have the right blood type. And at the end of the week we will tell you. If you do, you will go to the training facility and train to protect the city. If you have the wrong blood type, well you'll go home. So let's get started.” He starts calling out names. They walk down to the podium, cut their hand and drop blood into a glass. It goes on, over and over again until I am the only one left. “Zara Coopers.” Peter says. I stand, and walk down to the podium. I take the knife, hand shaking and slide it down my other hand. It stings. Then I drop the blood into the glass in front of me. Peter hands me a bandage. I take it and wrap it around my hand, then I walk back to my seat. “Ok that's it. We will test all the blood samples over the week. See you all on Sunday. Goodbye!” Peter says. Everyone stands and walks out of the building and back to their houses. Once we got home it was getting late. So I helped mom cook up some dinner, After dinner I went to bed and fell asleep.
