As soon as I walked through the door, I was happy and excited to be around kids and not being at home watching TV all day. As me and my mothers infiltrated the doors, there was a big lady receptionist sitting at the front desk as me and my mother approached she explained to us about what the program is going to be about, and how my mother is going to pay $10 a month for me to stay in the program until I'm older. It was so fun to be around kids and play game boards and going on field trips every Friday. We had four summer camp counselors who would create the games and participate with campers. There were only two favorite counselors Iiked,  Mrs. Pam and Mrs. Claudia. That's what we had to call them. They were the best. Mrs. Pam was nice and careful, and Mrs. Claudia was real strict and can be mean at times, but even though she was real strict, I liked her, I felt like she had to be strict and set a lot of rules for the campers to discipline us. When I turned 18, I could no longer go to the Y anymore. One year later, I made a visit to the Y and found out my favorite counselor had died with cancer, and her name was Claudia Smith. Even though she was real strict, I liked her a lot. She was fun and can be humorous at times, but I will always miss her, and miss the days going to the Y every summer as well.

RIP Claudia Smith
