I dream of a meadow, 
Where the grass is green
and the sun is warm.
I dream of this place,
You're by my side,
And I am safe from all harm.

I see this place
Inside my mind.
A glimmer of hope
In my darkest times.
In this world of cruelty and spite,
It is a wonderful, welcoming sight. 

The peace, 
The calm,
It's so serene.
I'd give up this world
To stay in the dream.

Alas, I cannot,
For it's not meant to be.
One cannot live in a world
No one else can see.

My eyes be closed, 
My mind set free.
I savor the serenity.
