Lest We Forget Read Count : 88

Oh such solemn day, flags draped and taps played.

Tears fell and flowers laid, a quiet wind at your grave.

Bagpipes rang out Amazing Grace, I still can see your smiling face.

Twenty one guns pierced the air, three rounds of seven, our hearts laid bare.

Into the ground, your body committed,

From this Earth, your spirit remitted.

I remembered our dance, those words on your lips.

What happened to us?  We were just kids.

I still see that smile, and I feel joy,

Brief moments with you when I was a boy.

Years have passed, but the wound remains.

I miss you, my friend, and everyday it rains.

The world may have lost a beautiful soul,

But I take comfort that yours I got to know.

Be at peace my friend, as the sun shall set,

You live in my heart,

Lest we forget.
