I heard the church bells, it sounded a wedding
I saw the sparks in the eyes of the people witnessing
I smelled the fragrance of flowers filling the air
I sensed the excitement in your every stare.
You looked so gorgeous at the end of the aisle
Patiently waiting with smiles through the eyes
Your best friend beside you and parents on the other
So happy for you, so glad you’ll soon be a father.
As the pianist played a melody so sweet
Little girls shower petals in tune with the beat
The entourage gracefully prepares the path
Of a lovely lady destined to be your bride.
From your gaze I saw love and contentment
And when you finally took her hand to commit
I stepped outside the church and there I weep
“Goodbye, be happy. May you be together for keeps!”
