Abner looked at his wife for a moment or two. Her light red hair was tied in a bun, and a few strands had fallen out in her sleep. Taking his finger, he brushed one long strand of hair from her golden face. She was beautiful to him, with piercing green eyes that shined, sometimes with tears that he kissed away himself when they fell. He sighed, getting up and draping more covers over his beloved as he went to the kitchen to make them both some coffee. His feet had pins and needles from the inactivity, but he stood the pain and walked. As he reached for the coffee grounds, he heard a voice call to him. "Well then Abner, you handsome man, you being up so early means something." His wife Charlotte said, walking up behind him and wrapping her hands around his shoulders. He leapt up quickly. "Jesus! Charlotte you scared me. I didn't think you'd be up." He answered, holding the counter.
