Over and over and over I fall,

When I get up, I get hit by the wall.

I'm in the corner, trying to shout,

But no one cares if I ever get out.

Chained inside this chamber of horrors,

My mind so wary of the constant torture.

Gruesome images continually repeat,

The sounds and smells, the fire at my feet.

The bullets, the bloodshed, the bombs in the street,

The sound of combat, the acrid desert heat.

Parts of me, I left behind,

Years ago, in a different time.

And I built the walls to contain my rage,

Only to find that I am forever caged.
