teenage rebellion still thrumming in my blood, red and white flashes by me as streetlights buzzing and cars humming roar past. my own footsteps echo and i look up at the moon, pocket knife opening  over and over with a click. cars freeze and headlights pause in the distance while i continue to walk. time stops as i listen to my own breathing, and i question the empty roads that i pass. my own steps perhaps mimic the clock, the ticking that reminds me my path is set in stone. a car runs past me and the night resumes, my thoughts scattering in the windless night without a trace.
