Maybe we had it

in shreds and pieces

like parts of a jigsaw puzzle

Hiding in life’s creases.

Maybe we had it

in flickers and flares.

A celebration

no one really cares.

Maybe we had it

in a storyline somewhere

Encroached within a tale

a memory that isn’t really there.

Maybe we existed inside a maze

Within the labyrinth of our brokenness

Maybe we did try to find our way out

Instead of finding a niche in our

 homelessness.
