The Promise

Once in a blue moon,
Once in a bright night sky.
I hope I'll see you soon,
But for now I say goodbye.

I'll miss you 
after you're gone.
And you'll miss me too,
If I disapeared for long.

You'll still remain in my heart
And I'll be in yours.
You were in mine since the start.

You'll still be my best friend
As we used to be.
Make new ones, I recommend
But don't forget your best one I plea.
 
Slowly and steadily your memories fade away
The trees start to sway.
The melodious chirping of the birds is just like thee.

It says I'll see you soon,
Sometime at night
Right under the blue moon.
At the place very quiet.

 Christmas comes near,
I become miserable and sad
And slides down my eye a tear.
As I remember us opening gifts 
And decorating the tree like mad.

Only some months have gone by 
After you've gone
And after the promise to meet, oh my!
But it feels like forever,
As the time passes by.
