To many this story may be controversial as it will reveal astonishing and perplexing facts never told or at most, tinted. Though a number of people will refuse contact with me; my mind is set and I shall no longer halt my dreams of writing for others desires of bizarre secrets being kept in darkness.

It may be outlandish how an entire family, both biological and extended, can once be so close and suddenly, similar to an unexpected lightning strike, one two or more members can break the relations apart indefinetely.

                              BEGINNINGS WERE BETTER

As she sat in her car waiting for her daughter to finish her ballet class for the night she tried recalling the story that she was told. In the late 1800s Eugenio married Cielo. Their parents were from Nicaragua. His parents were of Mayan decent, hers of Spaniard. Eugenio and his wife were of unique elegance. They both stood straight and looked of an extremely serious nature. He was dark and handsome. His eyes looked light and bright. His hair was carefully combed and slicked back. Not a wrinkle or misplaced crease was on his clean suit. Cielo's hair was long and very well managed. She was well groomed with very proper taste in clothe and style. Her eyes were a beautiful blue.
They migrated to Honduras were they had their first born sun Refugio Vela. He was then followed by Sarah Vela. Their third was Carissa then Ernesto and last Francisca Vela.
Clarissa was born in the year 1900. Due to birth records mix up no one was quite sure of her birth month. It was either November or December. She claimed her mother told her it was in December yet her birthday was celebrated on November 26.
Clarissa always spoke to her grandchildren of her childhood. She told them that her parents once owned a coffee and tobacco farm in Honduras. Spoke with delight about her siblings and herself being escorted to parties. She enjoyed speaking of her childhood. It was always interesting listening to her stories.
She had been an intelligent and very beautiful lady. She viewed life with such innocence and passion. Her love and faith for God and the Catholic Church carried no doubt in her heart. Her beauty was not only outward and of physical appearance but inward as well. Never again would another woman of such sweet and unique nature roam earth.
Later in life, she met a man named Asencio from Nicaragua. He was of Italian decent. He was of fair skin with blue eyes and light blond hair. "He was the only man that ever existed in my eyes and in my heart" She explained. "Every time he would come over to court me, why my heart would beat like a drum." She'd grin and her deep dark eyes brightened as she spoke. "Talk about butterflies in my stomach!" She would laugh happily. "I truly loved him." Looking at the expression on her face it was obvious that she spoke truthfully.

                 HIS TRUE COLORS REVEALED

In 1930 she had Asencio's baby. She was a beautiful bald baby with hazel eyes. "We shall name her Larissa." She told Asencio but he just shrugged his shoulder and frowned as if he could care less what the babies name was. He did not try to carry her, he did not get near her and he did not allow his mind to think about tiny Larissa.
Asencio had two daughters from a previous marriage. According to neighbors Larissa looked identical to her oldest half sister. He began bringing his daughters to Clarissa's home often after Larissa's birth. Clarissa was unhappy with his daughters visits although she submissively accepted them out of the love she felt for Eugenio. Not once did she mistreat them as she knew that they were not at fault that he brought them over.
Clarissa waited patiently for the day that Asencio would ask her to marry him yet marriage would not be in their future. He never planned on marrying her. After all; he could arrive at her home as he pleased. When he didn't feel like going or staying at Clarissa's, he simply didn't. Not once was he asked to carry the baby, not that he would, and he never worried if his daughters had food or clothes.
This left Clarissa depressed as she had already lived through so much. She believed Asencio loved and cared for her. She thought her life would turn for the better. However; it turned for the worst.
"Never did I have eyes for another man. There were others that asked me out but I did not care for them. I never dated again. I did not want to bring men around your mother either. It was my way of protecting her."
She never knew that Asencio had laid next to his oldest daughter, Glenda on the bed. Once when Larissa was eight she heard Glenda crying. When she saw what was happening Larissa began hitting her father. He did not have a chance to abuse Glenda that day but Larissa always suspected that Asencio already abused his oldest daughters more than once.
Clarissa's parents never liked Asencio. Her siblings disliked him since the day they met as well. There just was something, no one could quite pinpoint it but he send very negative vibes. No one, including Clarissa, ever found out about the abuse towards his daughters. None of the three girls ever spoke of it. The youngest, Larissa, knew that she had been lucky because he never had the opportunity to try and lay a hand on her. After their last encounter, that awful day she caught him trying to hurt her sister he never returned. Larissa despised him. In fact she loathed him!

                   SIBLINGS CARING FOR EACH OTHER

In 1933 Eugenio passed away his wife died the following year of a broken heart. As if Clarissa hadn't suffered enough in life the world only turned for the worst for her. Fortunately her brothers and sisters were there to help her raise Larissa. Larissa loved her aunts and uncles deeply and thought of them as mothers and fathers. She respected them a great deal.
" As brothers and sister's all of you nine brother's and sisters need to take care of each other." Clarissa would tell her grandchildren. "When my siblings and I were growing up we always took care of each other." She explained as she crochet beautiful table clothes and coasters for her daughter. "My older brother, sister and I didn't get to go to school. Public school was nonexistent in Honduras back then. The three older of us worked in order to put the two youngest through school." Her eyes watered as she spoke.
"Refugio obtained a job as a janitor at a school down the mountain road." She began the story with pride in her voice. He would listen attentively to the teacher as he picked pieces of newspaper up. He began to decipher words on the scraps of paper he picked up and he taught himself to read. Refugio became one of the greatest journalist, teacher, and writer in the country."

                            LIFE'S LOOKING BETTER

Finally having the economical means Refugio and his siblings were able to send Larissa to one of the best schools in the country. She did exceptionally well in school and her mother, aunts and uncles were extremely proud of her. She graduated at the top of her class and transferred to secretarial school where she learned to type 85 words per minute on a manual typewriter. Her instructors adored her and told her that she could reach high places in the world. Larissa felt proud and honored to be recognized at such a prestigious school.
When Larissa graduated she already had a job waiting for her at UNESCO. Refugio secured this job for her through his connections.

Everyone at UNESCO loved Larissa and told her that they knew she would reach high places. They could see her being very successful. She always felt happy. Daily she would be ready for work very early, arriving to work fifteen minutes early. Everyday she would walk the same route to and from work, up a steep hill, in spite the high heels she wore. Up and down those hills she strolled wearing the beautiful dresses that her mother sewed for her.
Now that Larissa felt so independent she felt a fantastic air for life!
Larissa's beauty grew more deeply as she got a little older. Many wanted to ask her out but she had no interest for any of her coworkers. She was still young, naive in the field of love, and immature in many matters, though mature enough for her career. At the moment love was just not in her plans for life and much less was dating in those plans.

In 1947 Larissa met Arturo. His stature was short. He was a good looking man with a strong built. He dreamt of joining the military but would not meet height requirements to be accepted. He did however qualify to become a military pilot.
Arturo began to take notice of Larissa and her beauty. Her intelligence is what attracted him the most. Although she was so young she had already graduated secretarial school and worked at UNESCO.
He felt such admiration for Larissa and eventually he found that in his heart that crush had turned to love. They married and had a daughter. They named her after Larissa's mother. Baby Clarissa looked identical to Larissa. The baby's eyes were blue. She would not make it past her sixth month.
Later Larissa had a boy. His name was Ricardo. He wasn't born very healthy. Ricardo was constantly in and out of the hospital. Fortunately Larissa's mother and Arturo's parents were always around to help as the baby became stronger. As a toddler he became stronger.
When Ricardo was two his baby sister was born. She was strong and healthy but did not speak until she was four. Anytime she was approached by anyone other than family she would hide under her bed. She only trusted her Grandma, parents and siblings. Abella did not even care to play with other children unless they were her brothers and sister. Her little sister's name was Regina and the youngest of the four was Vicente.
All four siblings cared for each other and loved each other very much. Vicente was the one that they took care of the most. Not only did they care for him in an extra manner because he was the youngest but also because he was the smallest and thinnest although he was born the biggest at eleven pounds.

Larissa was not just very small and even looked a lot younger than her age but in many ways in-spite of being intelligent she was immature in many matters of life. Both Arturo's and her Mom helped raise the children. Even her aunts and uncles were very much involved in raising the kids.
Being very submissively natured Larissa never complained but instead was completely obedient even at her adult age. Much of it was because of appreciation and respect because of all the help she had. Not once did she think about talking back. She figured that was the way life was meant to be and that was the best for her children, herself and everyone else.
Maturity was a reality for Larissa at work. There she was accurate and thorough in all areas. She was organized and precise. This career is what led her to the ability of buying a home for her Mom and family. Nothing could have made her more proud.
"Home Sweet Home" no truer words could exist at the time she received the title to the house. Such a beautiful house in a new neighborhood. A 2,040 square feet 3 bedroom house. Living space included a family room and a living room/den. It had an indoor and outdoor cemented patio with surrounding flower bed and a bonus room. Clarissa used that bonus room as a praying chapel.
No matter how loved a house is there are always some drawbacks. One of these drawbacks was that in order to go to the restroom you would need to go through the outside patio. Luckily it was built with a sidewalk and had sun and rain shield above. Another was that the kitchen was also outside in-between a bedroom adjacent to the bathroom and the chapel.
Since the patio included an outside tub sink meant for laundry when Larissa hired a maid name Mirna she washed all the clothes in that outer sink. Larissa grew very fond of Mirna and Mirna cared a lot for Larissa and her children. When Clarissa and Larissa both needed to leave the house they could trustingly leave the children with Mirna. Mirna played with the children as if she was a child herself. Well she was straight out of her teens so it wasn't difficult for her.
