I can hear the ticking of the clock

As hour by hour slowly goes by

I am haunted by what used to be and frightened by what lies ahead

Hard lessons have been learned

My heart has taken a beating, but I believe it's beginning to mend

I can hear the ticking of the clock

As hour by hour goes by

As day-by-day

Week by week

Month by month slowly goes by

Memories of you have become less and less

And your name is no longer in my vocabulary

You are no longer a part of me

All that remains are the scars of you

And they serve as a reminder of a place I never want to be again
