She wakes up at daybreak, like all other mornings. But hers is overlaid with thick fog, that daylight finds hard to penetrate. Her days were always distorted with the illusion of darkness.

She drives her car on the road, like any other road, except hers have several twists and turns, climbs and blind curves. Riddled with indecisions and unexpected outcomes.

She works with unquestioned mastery. Her skills seasoned and refined by time. Except that she questions the very essence of her craft. Doubts the significance of her masterpiece.

Her laughter sounds like any other laughter, though there is hollowness if you listen closer. Like a joke falling flat. An emptiness masqueraded by forced glee.

She builds, like any driven soul conquering the horizon. Just like any dreamer who refuses to be contained in the same rut. But her fortress is like no other. A castle of triumph held solid and stoic against the hostile seasons, by slabs and columns of her very own broken dreams.
