Lucid dreams and chasing ghosts,

I gave up my last shreds of hope.

Fell inside a world of danger,

Felt the sting of sorrow and anger.

Treading above this dismal abyss,

Searching for some scrap of bliss.

My eyes are clouded and my mind unclear,

My voice is frozen from all my fear.

I cannot scream, I cannot yell.

I feel trapped in this silent hell.

At the edge of this canyon so cold,

There is a man who sits alone.

Suddenly, the ground becomes a chessboard,

And the man speaks, the next move is yours.

What is happening, what is this place.

I squint my eyes, trying to see his face.

This is a game created within,

And you must beat yourself in order to win.

Release yourself from these confines,

Do you not recognize we're inside your mind?

And the sky lit up, enough that I could see,

The man I was talking to...

...Was me.
