Even before you were born you were a pain,

In the most delightful way.

I could feel your feet kick,

I could feel you spin around.

I craved random foods,

And ate for a family of six.

Even before you were born,

I knew what you’d be.

You’d be a beautiful child.

Whether you were a boy or girl.

You were the child we conceived.

We didn’t care what you were.

As long as you are well.

As as long as you are here.

In my arms,

You are an angel.

To the child i’m soon to bare,

You were conceived from love,

In love you will grow.

We will not be a perfect family.

We will have our moments.

The thing I want you to know is,

No matter what happens,

No matter the arguments we have;

We love you,

With all our being.

It use to be only us,

Now we have you.

We use to take the bullet for each other,

Now,

We’d take a bullet for you.

You are our everything,

Our only thing.

You are half mine and half his.

We will guide you,

In a few years,

You’ll be a teenager.

You’ll think you know everything,

But nothing you’ll know.

We’ll watch you grow,

Try to to tell you right from wrong.

Know-it-all,

We just won’t let you know.

Then back talk us,

As if we don’t know.

We conceived you,

We know more.

We’ve grown into different worlds,

But the rules remain.

You will graduate high school,

Even if it isn’t your forte.

You don’t have to go to college,

We just want you to succeed.

As long as you’re healthy,

As long as you’re happy.

Every choice you make,

Once you turn eighteen,

Will be yours.

For what we think is best.

Take our opinions into consideration,

Everything we say is because we care.

To the child I am soon to bare,

Remember little angel.

We know what we know.

We have pictures of your little butt.

Pictures of your alien face.

You were- are so cute

From the moment I laid eyes on you,

You were my pride and joy.

From the moment I first held you in my arms,

My feelings were overwhelmed.

Fear and love,

Excitement and exhaustion.

Fear of motherhood.

Would I be a good mother?

Would I drop you when I first held you?

Love of being a mother.

You came from me.

You were the life I carried for 9 months,

My little baby.

My bundle of sunshine.

Ever since I laid eyes on you,

Every problem seemed to diminish.

Every issue dissolve.

It was like,

Before I had you,

Everything I did was for your father and I.

Now,

It’s about you.

Everything I do,

Everything I will do,

Will be for you.

I’ve been waiting so long,

When your father first held you,

Tears welled in his eyes.

He smiled from ear to ear,

It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.

He feared he would drop you,

He feared he wouldn't do it right.

He was the most protective father,

I hope he loves you more than I.

You are the gleam of his eye,

You are the beat of his heart.

You are the apple of my eye,

You are the beat of my heart.

You are my little honey bear,

My little bumblebee.

You are his warrior,

His little Chimpanzee.

You swing on his arm,

You lay on my chest.

Our precious little angel,

Our sweet

Sweet,

Little monster.

To the child I am soon to bare,

I hope you are as proud of being my child,

As I am of being your mother.
