Every bride dreams of her perfect wedding: from selecting the right type of flowers to having the perfect wedding dress, and let’s not forget selecting the right venue for your big day. All of these are great but without a wedding tent you have no wedding for your perfect day. Whether you have always imagined your dream venue at a beach or vineyard, pitching a tent is the perfect way to shelter your guests at an outdoor wedding.

Wedding tents can be romantic, chic, and elegant for outdoor celebrations. Choosing the right tent will protect your guests from any unexpected weather conditions such as rain, excessive heat and cold while providing a fashionable backdrop for your ceremony or wedding reception. Here’s your guide on all things related to wedding tents for your special day.

1.     Determine What Type of Wedding Tent You’ll Need

Planning a wedding is a challenging process that takes a lot of time and energy. Determining what type of tent, you will need for your big day solely depends on what you need. Are you having a large wedding that will seat over thousand people or a small intimate gathering of ten people?

Keep in mind that not every wedding tent is created equal. Some tents vary on the size, color, and style. The quality of the tent or tents that you ultimately purchase will be dependent on the company that you choose to work with.

2.     Location of the tent

The tent site should be a completely flat surface, away from any standing water or areas where rainwater typically accumulates. This is key in case you will want to install tiles and flooring. As a safety precaution you’ll want your tent rental company to conduct a site inspection to survey the area. If your outdoor wedding will take place at a private home, you may be required to contact the utilities company to mark off underground lines around the area (gas and electricity). When the rental company arrives to place stakes in the ground to mount the structure, they’ll need to know this information as to not damage any lines, according to the article of “Renting a Tent for Your Outdoor Wedding: The Basics”.

3.     Anchor Industries Your Wedding Tent Manufacturer Provides Endless Options

Their options are designed to meet a vast range of scenarios, allowing you to choose the perfect solution for your budget and your needs. Some models incorporate modular features, allowing you to keep an inventory of components so that you can hire or setup the best wedding tents on a case by case basis.

4.     Choose a Tent

When choosing wedding tents, you will typically be looking at frame tents or tension tents. For the largest weddings, clear span structures could be ideal. If you’re stuck trying to choose between which tent is best suited for your wedding take a look at these:

Frame and Track Frame Wedding Tents

Frame tents are a popular option because they are easy to set up and don’t require staking. They are versatile and are suited to virtually any ground surface, including turf. Because you don’t need to worry about staking, setup is relatively quick and easy. Frame tents don’t use center poles like traditional pole marquees or tension tents, which means you can maximize interior space.

Frames can be set up with ease, and panels simply slide through a unique track system for a seamless appearance. The frame system is also used for mounting decorations and accessories, including hanging plants and lighting. Wall and roof sections can help you to stand out in your industry, with options like cathedral windows or even clear wedding tents.

5.      The Best Tension Wedding Tents for Sale

Tension tents have a more involved setup process, but the results can be highly impressive. For high-end weddings where your clients demand a traditional and elegant aesthetic, tension tents are often recommended. The soaring canopies are a remarkable sight, and you will leave a lasting impression on your clients and any attendees – the perfect opportunity for generating future business! Sometimes, choosing the right type of tent comes down to personal preference of what you want. Other factors, like your wedding appeal and budget, may come into play.

6.     Calculate Your Tent Size

After you have determined what type of tent, you’ll need for your wedding you need to calculate your tent size. Determine the size for a buffet if you’re having a wedding reception. Factor in other items such as music, dance floor or a stage.

Bridal party. Are you seating the bridal party at the traditional long head table? If so, you need room for that. Take the number of people you want sitting at that long table (including the bride and groom!) and divide by four. That's the number of 8' tables you need to form the head table. You need room behind the tables, to let people get in and out, and also room in front to get the right effect. Allow 10' x 10' per head table.

Buffet. Allow a 10' x 10' area for each 8' buffet table (this also allows room for the buffet line to form). Usually your caterer will be the one to tell you how many buffet tables you need. If my make-believe party needs four buffet tables, that's 400 extra square feet.

Other items. Are you having a stage for the band? Are you having a dance floor? All of these are going to take up real estate in your tent. For stages and dance floors especially, you need more than the actual size of these items, since nobody wants to sit two feet away from the stage. If I was using a 12' x 12' dance floor, I'd give it at least a 16' x 16' area, adding 256 square feet to the tent.

7.     Look into the Type of Permits You’ll Need

Before choosing a wedding tent for your chosen venue destination, check your venue's policy on rentals. Some locations, like vineyard or historic estates, may not allow wedding tents on the premises.

8.     Decide on the Type of Tent Style

You'll probably want something that's quick, safe and easy to install—not only will it reduce the cost of labor, but it'll also make your day and day-of schedule less stressful. Tents are typically available in a variety of sizes and styles, so your options will run the gamut. Some styles have no interior poles which means no obstruction of table setups or sight lines, offering both maximum space and flexibility, which is ideal for a large wedding. Having a small, intimate reception? An upscale tension or frame tent is probably perfect for you, according to the article of “Everything You Need to Do if You're Having a Tented Wedding”.

10.                        Decide on your heating and air-conditioning situation

This is important. Lots of tent vendors can provide you with the necessary equipment, including portable air-conditioning units, outdoor heaters, tall patio heaters, floor heaters, misting fans and more.
