When sadness covers you like a shroud 
All you can see is the pain and the tears 
From all directions an endless cloud
I say “now is the time to fight my fears”

Amidst the lightning and thunder 
My world is shaking apart
Demons trying to pull me under 
And bury me with my aching heart 

I’ve been through the “wars”real and imagined
I’ve see enough of tragedy 
I call upon the will that saved me 
“THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN TO ME”

With my last test of determination 
With advice I’d give to others 
I recall the information 
That turned the course of this destination 

Focusing on positives past
Remembering strategies that last
Combining those that apply
I looked the demon bastards in the eye

I’ve agonized for many a night
Now I’m ready for a fight 
No matter who the rival
My first goal is survival 

Once I’m back on my feet 
Now this battle -I must complete 
This brutal challenge is just not for me
But for trusted friends and family 

The is a lot of miles behind me
Don’t know how much remains
But if the demons find me 
I will not have fought in vain

When I finally reach the the end of the road 
I will be so satisfied 
Though I’m not speeding to get there
I sincerely feel lve tried

I believe in life I took the test  
I never walked away
Although I failed some I still say-
“I did my very best “
