Today, March 7. 2017, the Freedom Caucus laid out their plan to repeal the Affordable Health Care Plan, aka Obama Care, before they replace it. Here is why we should be worried: the top two lobbying organizations by money "invested" to influence Congress in 2016 were 1-Pharmaceuticals/Health Products at $244.1 million and 2-Insurance $146.7 million, with $13.8 million by BCBS and $6.9 million by American Health Insurance Plans alone.

We need to be mindful of the wise adage, "follow the money". If the highly profitable healthcare/insurance industries have hundreds of millions of dollars to "invest" to buy support of the people we send to Washington to represent us, something is amiss. Keep in mind, their lobbying dollars are a small part of their total financial take. They pay enormous salaries to a lot of executives, a lot of dividends to share holders, etc..

Our representatives need to be accountable to us, not the health insurance lobby. I fully support the capitalist system, but healthcare should not be part of it. Healthcare administration is necessary but hugh executive salaries, stock dividends and hundreds of millions of lobbying dollars are not. The fix is clearly to remove the entire healthcare critical care delivery complex from the capitalist system. A model based off our Medicare system would seem a likely place to start.

Nothing heard so far from proposed alternatives to the Affordable Health Care Plan appears viable. Time to get serious and develop a workable health care delivery system for all Americans. Are we not the greatest nation on planet earth?
