This poem is dedicated to someone I once knew.

Rain
The years have gone by 
You've watched me grow 
From a fetus in my mother's stomach 
Until a woman on her own 
You were there to help me walk
And there to help me talk 
And have held my hand 
So I would not have gotten lost 

It's been a long time 
That you have not been the same
These substances you rely on
Have changed every little thing 
I miss our long talks 
I miss our long walks 
And the laughter 
From our corny jokes .

Your long Auburn hair 
That I used to brush for you .
I would confide every little thing in you.
Your green eyes that would change 
With every emotion you displayed.
I had played therapist 
While you were hurting .
I felt all of your pain 
In all of your wording.

Still , I never left your side.
Even after the addiction took place 
And you had morphed into someone I could not indentify.
Your biggest thing was loyalty
But where was yours ?
Family had been the first thing 
You turned your back on .
Maybe because you could not fool us
With the wrong that was going on.

One day I hope you find your way back to us
And we can continue to live our lives 
Because life is short enough as it is 
No one will walk this Earth forever 
With love always , Your Little Sister.
