Forgiveness can be a tricky concept

When someone hurts you or betrays you, we are taught to move on from the situation

We accept that person's apology if they offer us one and we continue to move forward

But what about when you say you have forgiven, but you haven't?

When you accept their apology verbally but physically, mentally, and emotionally you continue to hold animosity

Have you really forgiven?

What happens when it is hard for you to look past their wrongs and you are still in disbelief that they would do that to you?

I am still learning to forgive

It is a flaw that I can own up to

I am learning to forgive others but most importantly, I am learning to forgive myself

We hurt ourselves too

We put ourselves through things that we know we shouldn't

We self-harm

We self-medicate

And when it is all over, we have to live with ourselves in the end

You can say that you will never put yourself through a certain situation again

You can say that you will take better care of yourself

But you keep going back to bad habits

You go back because you haven't forgiven yourself

You don't believe that you can move on

You don't believe that you can do better

Our humanity comes into play with these situations

It is up to us to decide if we are going to control it or let it control us?

Excellent points 🦋it is possible to forgive but the mind does not let you forget 🦋it is however your decision to fo forgive and how many times you forgive the same transgressions 🦋🦋
