What compels some to hang on-
Seeming by their fingertips 
To endures terrible a relationship 
A horrific bad trip

I really have no answer 
They must speak for themselves 
The word that comes to mind-Desperation
Why isn’t that connection shelved 

They may feel trapped financially 
Or threatened if the leave 
They may feel they still have the love
So their partner will believe 

When listening to their painfully pleas
Some have no place to turn 
There is great help that can be found
From those with great concern

It’s true tha change can be difficult 
With reality or a matter of pride 
For those willing to take the chance 
Rather to live in pain and hide

It’s true we may not walk in their shoes 
That is the frustrating part 
We can only offer empathy 
Sincere-straight from the heart
