We Are Not Broken Read Count : 146

We are not broken, our perspectives have changed.  Life finds new meaning when you're downrange. It's not the stuff on the evening news, what we did, we had everything to lose.  We chose to do what others would not, and succeeded in missions other could not. We grew as a family, bonds stronger than blood. But when we came home, we all felt the flood.  Angry, guilty, happy, sad, every emotion both good and bad. Try to drown it at the bottom of the bottle, yet it never seems to fill that spot so hollow. Choke down the meds the doctors prescribe,

Many a day, I wished I had died.  Here you go, just hit a joint. The world doesn't get it, so what's the point?

Our perspective changed from the rigors or war, but we are not broken, though we bare the scars.

Our brothers and sisters have bled and cried.  Some of us didn't come home alive. But in our hearts, they still live.  That is a gift, they did give.

We carry on despite our loss, because we know what it cost.
