Chapter One It had been hours since Molly last seen the city. It's terrace houses and twisting paths, which she missed. Instead, she could only see emerald fields dancing in the breeze. Cows and sheep roamed the grass and flocks of birds flew elegantly across the blue sky. The chariot turned smoothly, blowing air into Molly's face. Her silky hair covered her face, as she closed her eyes, wondering if she'd ever see the city again. The wind stopped whistling and the bumper chalk paths had stopped; it was only then Molly realised that she'd arrived. Her eyes opened her eyes and saw a sight that dazzled her eyes: a grand house loomed above her. It's twisting ivy and roses decorated the gates and the highly polished Windows shone brightly in the sunlight. "Wake up you lazy girl!" Commanded a shrill voice. At the sound of Ms Blowers voice, I stumbled out of the chariot. I heaved my suitcase out from the back and dragged it towards the house. "My, you look a right sight," cried Ms Blowers impatiently, " come here and let me tidy you up!" She rubbed at my face roughly. I struggled from her grasp. Her bony fingers were like steel metal. " I am not am baby, I can do my own face!" I insisted. I rubbed my chin gently. I urged to sit down again, but the chariot door was locked. In disappointment, Ms Blowers opened the gate to the house. "Is this where my aunt lives?"I breath. With every step I took, I drew breath. Ms Blowers knocked hastily. We waited in silence. At last the door opened to reveal a woman in a long skirt. " Molly Higgins," announced Ms Blowers to the standing woman. I peered at the face of this queer face. Her minty breath breathing on my trembling face, she was quite stern and had a strict look saying "no messing about" . I gulped; simultaneously, I bowed elegantly. "Oh dear you needn't bow to me I am your auntie" the frail woman finally said. Her voice was quite soft and cheerful and I felt quite warm suddenly ; despite the fact, that it was autumn. An icy gust of wind blew gently, almost tipping me over. " Pull yourself together child, this is a grand house which must be treated with respect," commanded Ms Blowers. She pulled me up physically to make her point. "Quite the clumsy one, mistress, " Ms Blowers joked, "I must be going, time you know." She straightened herself before bowing and turning to the chariot, leaving me with the odd woman. I looked around me, it was full of nature: trees, bushes and fruit. "Come in, come in," ushered my auntie, "or you'll catch a horrible cold!" Immediately, just stepped into the house, carrying my suitcase with me. The house was quite BIG inside. I followed her into a room full of furniture and a large tv. Sitting on the chairs were 2 girls, looking quite similar, glaring at me in an unusual fashion. " Lizzie, Lucy, meet Molly, your cousin." Neither of them said a thing. " You two will get along," continued my auntie, "sit down then dear." Slowly, I ambled my way to a spare chair, while the girls' were still staring and watching every move I take. "In the house you can call me Auntie Jennifer, this is Lizzie and Lucy my twin children, I say that you will soon learn to tell them apart. Lizzie goes is way more active than Lucy, but you'll most likely find Lucy reading a book, isn't that right girls?" The twins said nothing. Auntie Jennifer laughed. "Shocked... come on girls, at least say hi!" She begged. "Mum..." were the first words I heard them speak, well one of them anyway," we don't know anything about this girl!" "You will," reassured Auntie Jennifer comforting, "Now go show Molly her new room, go!" Reluctantly, the twins stood up and beckoned me. I followed, picking up my suitcase. We went up 2 flights of stairs and turned a sharp left. A large room painted pink was the room I was in now. " you get the pink one," one of them said, "it used to be mine!" "Its... nice," I replied, sitting on a large bed. " Listen up girl, if you want to live with us then you have some rules to follow." "Number one, no going into our rooms EVER, don't touch the stash of sweets under the cupboard in the kitchen or you'll suffer a very painful death and thirdly tv 2 to 4 is OUR time to watch tv, got it?" I nodded. " How can I tell you two apart?" "I am Lizzie, I am more active and sporty than my twin I love chocolate, my twin Lucy is way more quieter and reads a lot and often does my homework." Explained Lizzie. " Speaking of homework she's coming to our school, St Sainthood." I opened my suitcase and took out a picture of some girls. They were my school friends: Emily, Riley and Tabitha. Memories enveloped me. "Them your school friends?" Asked Lucy quietly. I nodded slowly. Lizzie suddenly saw something in my suitcase that caught her eye. She picked up a picture frame with a man and woman and a little girl in their hands. "My parents," I whispered, tears now coming down my cheek. I sniffed, wiping my nose on her jumper. "Where are they now?"Asked Lizzie in curiosity, looking thoughtfully at the picture. "Their dead," I wept. " how did they die?" Asked Lucy handing Molly a tissue. " I was only five when it happened and it happened too fast, my parents did nothing wrong and then... it happened. They were gone and all was left were dead bodies." "But HOW did they die?" "Rumours,"started Molly" Rumours of many things like unconsciousness, murder or even... suicide." Chapter Two It had been 2 days in the new house and Molly decided to wander around the naturalistic area around the house. Slowly and cautiously she opened the front door and tiptoe out of it. She inhaled the fresh air slowly then walked towards the undergrowth surrounding the house. It was thick and cold, as Molly ambled her way through the stinging leaves and tangled tundra. She froze. Green grass smothered the floor like a carpet as elegant scented flowers danced in the cool breeze. Towering trees loomed above as they rustle in sway. But the main wonder, the breath-taking image, was the cool, shimmering river which flowed along the ditch. It sparkled in the sunlight as little fish and leaping frogs splashed around playfully. It was magical. Almost fantasy. Molly stared at the river in utter belief, standing still to take it all in. After a couple of moments being motionless, Molly slowly walked towards the edge of the river, knelt down and dipped her fingers into the cool water. It was warm and thickly. She laughed and swayed her hands in the water, creating beautiful swirly patterns. Little fish splashed around her hands and circled it. Lotus flowers floated elegantly on the blue surface towards her like little lights. Molly was getting warmer, even though the wind was getting colder. She danced around the edge happily, happy to have found this wonderful place. She would keep it a secret and visit this beautiful place whenever she could. Suddenly, Molly stopped dancing. She realised she had to get home, so taking a final glance, she skipped away with this mesmerising secret. "Where you been?"asked Lucy as Molly entered the house stealthily. Molly jumped. "Outside," Molly replied stiffly, closing the door behind her. Lucy raised her eyebrows. "What did you do outside?" Lucy asked again, suspiciously. "Wander around, talking to myself... it's a habit," Molly said quickly agitated. "Listen, I just went outside for fresh air, I like the outside." Lucy shrugged then walked off. Molly sighed then ran upstairs to her new room and took out a piece of paper, a pot of ink and quill. She then sat crossed legs on the floor and wrote in her neatest writing. Dear mum and dad, I have arrived at Aunt Jennifer's house and it's big and modern. She has twins and they're a handful! I found a beautiful garden here- it's not a garden, it's a river in the middle of an undergrowth outside and it's wonderful there, it's like it can make dreams come true. It s like your here with me, breathing on my neck and guiding me to safety. Wish you were here. Love, your daughter, Molly xxx
