How do you help someone Who doesn’t want to be helped 
What words are there to get through 
When your heart aches to see them like this
And you feel there’s nothing you can do

Is it true that they really don’t care anymore 
Or are they pleading in desperation 
Are they just asking for what they can’t do
And feel trapped in their situation

The only way I can deal with this now 
Is to be there for support 
To be there to communicate 
To listen to the her words
To avoid a hint of any rejection 
Hoping she wishes to change direction 

This is a time- taking process 
Not an overnight rescue 
Trust must develop 
If she understands 
That sharing means caring
That a change is at hand

Success or failure is left to the fates
I only can  do what I do 
To abandon her in time of her need
Is no option for me as I try
I could not live with myself at all
If I quit and walked away 

The bottom line is commitment 
It is a sacred moral bond
It connects to all in times of need 
To help the lost get found

This issue has no answer yet 
Perhaps it never will
But I made a silent vow to her 
As some have done for me 
I’m in this till the very end
Hoping a change to see

I feel your every word in this because i have been through the same predicament. I stayed by their side, i did my best, i gave it my all. But at the end of the day, the choice to accept help, to recognize the need for change, has to come from within. Nothing can be done for someone who doesn't want to accept help.
