Our Humanity

Painted upon our aging faces for all to see.
Blended into these masks are we.
Lines, colors and pieces of our every deed.
Parts of our very own living history.

Living in a world where just being human is embarrassing.
When in truth our inhumanity should be our greatest travesty.
We so readily trade our own humanity.

For a worldly facade of normality.
Hiding our imperfections with illusions of formality.
Veiling our fragile eyes from our own brutality.
Breaking our given soul from true reality.

Because we choose not see....
Our own perfectly imperfections of our humanity.
