Good-bye 

Today I said good-bye, 
Though the tears you cried, 
They cut me deep inside. 
I longed to comfort you as you cried. 

Today I said Good-bye,
Though you may not understand why. 
It has become my time, 
To pass from this, loving life. 

Today I said Good-bye,
Felt your tears, as you held me and cried. 
Heard your pleas and questions of why. 
For me you were my life, I beg you do not cry. 

Today I said Good-bye,
Grieve not for me, It was a wonderful life. 
My years spent lovingly at your side. 
A life I lived with beaming pride. 

Today I said good-bye, 
In spirit I shall remain at your side. 
Remember me youthful, not as I died. 
Tell stories of me, of the love I did abide. 

Today I said Good-bye
A short full life, 
That is what I leave behind. 
Memories comfort you, until I am at your side. 

Today I said Good-bye
I cannot tell you why, 
Though I’ll wait just over the bridge of life. 
To meet you, and dry the tears you’ve cried. 

Today I said Good-bye 
Four fuzzy paws stilled by age. 
Whiskers wet with tears you gave. 
Remember me happy, lovingly in your day’s.
