I wrote a poem before this one about letting you goLike a butterflyBut you weren't the one being set freeI wasBut nowI'm finding myselfTrying to catch you againMy heart is the jarYou are the fireflyWhat am I doing? This isn't meI don't take back what I let goI don't take back what caused me painBut the thing is you didn't just give me painYou gave me happinessShould the one mistake you madeTake away all the happy times we created togetherNo one knows our relationship the way we doSo why am I letting them have an opinion about it?I have to follow my heartMy head is telling me to let you goBut my heart just isn't ready yetEverywhere I goThere's a reminder of youOn my way home from workThere's the park that we spend our time at almost everydayWhenever I'm listening to my SpotifyThere's the song "Ride For Me" that you had me sing to you that one dayThe irony about that isThe song is about loyaltyAnd it was your disloyalty that tore us apartBut anywaysThere were the places where we had our first and second dateRight across the street from each otherThen for the past two daysI saw two people that were rolling skatingAnd all of suddenI would have a flashback to our third date when we went rollerskatingAnd every time I would fallYou were there to pick me up or catch meThat was the moment that I knewYou would be the one to always protect meBut why couldn't you protect my heart? Why do I still want you?SimpleI love youAnd you don't give up on love
