A monk and his gong

Quietly sat

Outside of his temple

Watching the slow

Orange sunset

Across the world on Wall Street

An atheist made a list

Of all the things that

He would do

Before he is dead

The monk saw the clockwork of stars revolve in the night

And reached for this masterpiece

With his mind’s eye

The atheist briefly gazed East

At a timid sunrise

Through the pane of his window

In a tall grey sky-rise

The old monk found his peace

In starlight divine

The atheist had a heart attack

And simply died
