For two days and two nights

The wolves of the sky

Chased the sheep clouds

Ferociously howling and pouncing

Tearing apart

Every thing that stood in their path

Their pressure bending the silver poplars

Long branches reaching

All the way down to the ground

Then

A malicious spark

Carelessly flung by a madman’s hand

Into their throats

Whipped up a firestorm

Turned even the rocks into ash

Melted the roads

The wolves went on howling

Until sunrise

The whole island felt seasick

Destabilized

Embers danced wildly

Neath the trembling stars

Frightening power

Descends from the skies

Stripping the mountains nude of their clouds

The winds of northwest screamed and scowled

Strange things are happening

Nowadays here

The power of winter

At the apex of heat
