Freedom to think
Freedom to write
For all of our freedoms
We hold on tight

Freedom to choose
Freedom to read
For all of our freedoms
Our nation did bleed

For the galant men and women
Who looked tyranny in the eye
Preserved this wondrous gift for us
Though many had to die

Although we have great benefits
From what was miraculously won
There is a job unfinished
There’s more that must be done

Struggling groups and struggling people
Are still disinfranchised and down
Waiting to join the multitudes
Who wear the freedom crown

It’s often taken for granted
When we step out the door
The freedom we’re enjoying
You cannot ask for more

The freedom of our faith
Whatever it may be
Can be focused on those still hoping That soon they’ll all be free

It is not a fantasy for those still searching
It’s the same dream our forefathers had
when  their quest had begun
We learn from our history
With the ultimate sacrifice -they won

As our lives take their chosen paths
It’s so easy to forget
There is still that work to be done
“It still ain’t over yet”
