 The finest example of creativity has come from those tormented .
With pain one is able to reach the depth
of their soul and transform-with their creative gift -masterpieces.

This formula is evidenced in our own 
writers community as well 
The level of expression is dramatically 
raised by those at their emotional limits 
and their excruciating pain and frustration pierces my heart with empathy and frustration as well .

I too have been at the depths of despair 
many years ago and produced a  voluminous amount of poems that opened the door to a long - long period of healing
And to this day -30 years later I still carry the scars of grief often triggered by their desperation.

I have been blessed to have survived my
personal horror with the help of family-
friends -my grief organization-writing 
and time

In reading these agonizing accounts 
I only hope that our sisters and brothers 
find the strength and support to break this haunting chain of circumstances 
and give them the opportunity to find a better life we are all entitled too
