I made a new discovery 
I’ve found the road to recovery 
It’s not what I thought I’d find
It’s more a state of mind 

In this persistent battle 
Making my head rattle 
I’ve decided to take charge 
With issues small and large 

It’s easy to take pity
And lament the”why me”song
But that is “no win city”
I’ve lived there to damn long  

I’ve simply changed my attitude 
Am focused on my gratitude 
I appreciate my blessings
With the rest I’m no more messing 

I know I’m taking chances 
They’re not soap opera romances 
But what do I have to lose
If I’m surrounded by happy good news
