Can I not belong to any religion and still believe in the creator ?

Can I not venerate a figurine and yet be kind to a fellow creature ?

Can I not ever be bound by any particular isms or let my senses be governed by suppresive dogmas ?

But still be happy at the smile of another and in their sorrow, shed a tear ?

Why should my mind be enclosed in an abstract edifice of blind faith and fear ?

Forever looking skywards in search of imaginary beings who shall set things right for me,

Why I ask can I not trust my own faculties more than I should trust aphorisms ?

Tell me why I cannot perceive life in my optative way and die a contented man ?

Is it because an 'fraid mind is easier to manipulate and control,

Through citation of notional ideas of virgins in heaven, torment in hell and reincarnations of the soul ?

"Men fear what they do not understand",

So isn’t it better to understand than to simply let fear cloud your understanding ?
