"You're too soft and gullible", he said. "Be careful, be wise..."

"But I'm not stupid", she replied, "I just have a big heart"

"They are taking advantage of your 'big heart', can't you see how vulnerable you've become? You will only get yourself hurt in the process" He exclaimed.

"But I don't even feel any pain anymore, I can't even get hurt." She responded.

"You're a queen, too precious. I've seen your heart, you have a very good heart. But you've been selling yourself short and all he's doing is reserving you for second best. You deserve better. Yearn for a new kind of relationship." He concluded.

Later that evening the Holy Ghost told her; "If there was such a thing as immunity to vulnerability, the bible would not talk about guarding your heart with all diligence."

She stayed awake thinking about it.

She remembered how that one of her friends had told her; "You are too discrete about your feelings. So much that you have a hard time opening up to your own self about how you really feel."

Could that be it? Was she in denial? Because low-key, she knew what was being served at the table where currently sits was way less than what she deserved yet she continued to "hold on to hope against hope", hoping that things would change by tomorrow. Yet tomorrow never seemed to show up.

Still, from within her, she argued; "Well, life has nothing to do with feelings, and I'm tough. If I hold on a little while longer, he can..."

"Just guard your heart, child!!!" The Holy Spirit interupted.

And that was it.

The signs had been there from the onset, her friends, and his, had warned her but our stubborn little miss had ignored all the red flags. "We'll prove them wrong, make it work..." She'd convinced herself.

"Our love is an eternity affair," He made her believe. "A forever typa thing..." How delusional She'd been to believe him.

Yet now she was done being taken for a ride. She wasn't gonna wait around until the other girl disappoints him and then he'll start appreciating her. What if that day never comes? What then will become of her? Will she survive another heart break?

She was tempted to stick around a little while longer, but she had no reason to. She felt that walking away meant giving up and that's just something she doesn't do, She's a fighter and she doesn't know how to tap out.

Yet she had to swallow a bitter pill of truth; He never gave her a reason to fight for him, for them. She had nothing to work with.

So she pulled herself together and stopped beating the air.

She was done being a doormat, therefore, she picked herself up and walked away, never to look back.

She wasn't, however, gonna let them change her. She was gonna continue to walk in love. It is her nature and she will not change for anything.

She just realised she had dispensed so much love to everyone else, especially him, that she left none for herself. He was aware of this, and for a quite a while now, he exploited her for it but an oblivion to him was, hearts too get tired. She respected him too much, to the point where she spared no respect for herself. She had failed to draw the line between humility and gullibility, she'd ignored the clearly visible line between submission and being a walk over but a girl can only take so much.

She'd been pushed beyond her limit and was now ready to make the move she ought to have made a long time ago. She was ready to love herself and to be loved right. She'll apply a lot more wisdom at loving everybody else...

The one who'd taken her for granted had lost a precious jewel because he had mistaken it for a stone. She knew that one day, he would be awakened to the reality of this fact but it will be too late.

Proverbs 18:22 kept replaying in her head; "He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favour from the Lord."

He had found a good thing, a reason for favour from the Lord, yet he'd carelessly let it slip through his fingers. As she pondered on this, it suddenly clicked;

"In this equation, he has more to lose than I do."

So she sighed and smiled as she walked away, because it dawned on her that a man of deeper wisdom would spot her worth and would handle her like the asset of great value that she is.
