Her Eyes Read Count : 83

Category : Poems

Her eyes are so intoxicating, I always glance and look away.  They can pierce my skin and stare inside, she can see the demons play.

Today I looked at her, refusing the urge to drop my gaze.  I know she’s already seen it, all my pent up rage.

My God, they are so beautiful, and they see my very soul.  I’m caught in her stare, my darkness laid bare.  She sees me as a whole.

She shows no sign of fear at the monster lurking inside.  Not a hint of hatred for what I’ve tried to hide.

And then I saw it, through eyes of love and warmth.  Though she tries to hide them, she has demons too.

And I felt so grateful as she showed me that I’m not in this alone, grateful for the peace she gave me, peace I can call my own.
