Don’t sell friendship shortThe way that I’ve been taughtA real one can last foreverYou don’t have to be cool or cleverIt takes time for it to growAnd experience so you’ll knowIf it’s the real thingOr an unrealistic flingFor the parties it has to be mutualA commitment that has to be dutifulThen you’ve found something greatWill it work if the other’s an ex-mateSome remain emotionally attachedThough the original one did not lastAnd there’s much evidence that revealsThat many still make those appealsI know that it works for someBut for most the issue is doneThere are usually bad complicationsWhich make it a no win-situationYou can’t blame a person for tryingBut it ends up with many just cryingIt’s hard to cut loose the connection When so much was based on affectionAs in all issues there are choicesMotivated by emotional voicesSo after you tried and it finally endsThe consolation is you’ve still gotgreat friends
