He came back....
as if nothing happened,
as if he's entitled to be heard,
as if she's supposed to be waiting for him eternally.
And so....
she asked him to put back into her eyes
all the rivers she cried for him,
she asked him to give her back
all the sleepless nights she lost
ruminating over why he abandoned her.
His face fell.
He was speechless.
His mind blank.
She turned away.
Unless he can return them all to her,
he does not deserve the attention of her ears.
