Dreaming Of Space Read Count : 74

We're nowhere and we're floating.

It's a synchronicity and a mediocrity.

Our movements mechanical, the ticks of gears almost audible.

The stars align around us.

Constellations glow a faint blue just an arms length away.

We remain stiff and appear unimpressed.

A coldness sits in our stomachs.

We near the wall of stars, unblinking, unflinching.

The wall does not stop us.

A breath escapes my lips, another from yours.

It is so empty out here.

Free will feels foreign and new to us.

The coldness is no longer in us, instead we are swimming in it.

The stars have disappeared.

There is nothing but you, I, and the deafening silence.

I feel so small, I can only imagine you do too.

Tears well up in my eyes.

With no direction I feel alone.

But it does not last, because a warmth spreads through me.

It starts in my fingers and flows through my veins.

I look towards the source and see you, holding my hand.

You pull me close and I feel safe.

In this empty expanse of space, it is in your arms I feel I am home.
