I met an old friend today
I have not seen him for twenty years
We’ve corresponded intermittently 
But this was a revelation 
What is unique about true friendship 
Is that no matter the time or distance 
that separates them the union is as if we saw each other yesterday
Updating each other on other friends the and family -the bittersweet news of who had passed away-comments about weight gained or lost-hair gray or gone
was a prelude to the rest of our conversation. 
We spent the majority of time revisiting 
our past years from high school friends and teammates till we went different ways after college 
We recalled the mischief-the pranks -the dangeroust stunts that we thought  cool at the time as well as achievements we wed fortunate to accomplish 

All in all it was a fascinating and refreshing experience 
It also focuses on the readings where many find friendship short- lived for various reasons 
I too experienced this as most people do  at different stages of maturity - and have often emphasized that good friends should be cherished for they can be rare to find through our journey of life
This encounter not was only a wealth of joybut also energized me so I may cope better with the difficult situations that are also part of our journey 

I hope that all are or will be blessed by this type or relationship
