I would not say that they are pretences

But she mentions them to me nonetheless

I try to trek these deep snake-like trenches

When it is she who puts me to the test

She never acknowledges her self-worth

And my attempts to change her thought are in vain

If life were to repeat this awful dearth

I'd learn that tears did not equal the pain

There's a world that we still need to rectify

And an eternity needed for total remission

Within ourselves we still question the eye

But we never choose to change the vision

Yet we pretend we can touch the heaven's stars

Without a rocket, and only our broken hearts
