The night falls.  The darkness surrounds.

Little bits of light are still around.

Shadows grow and the air is chilled.

With stars above, the sky is filled.

Embers of a fire drift towards the heavens.

The clock in the tower chimes out eleven.

From bustling city to sleepy town, in the darkness the land does drown.

The ground has frost and the skies so clear.

Parents telling children, "There's nothing to fear."

Through the hours of the cool night's reign, the sun plots to rise again.

The battle is quiet as the new day begins.

Darkness knows it cannot win.

It relinquishes it's hold across the land, from the fields and rivers to the shores full of sand.

The sun rises up to take its place, casting it's warm light on the lands face.
