It was a beautiful day.End of June in Mumbai when Monsoons are just setting in.
Rhea was getting ready to go to school. To add to her happiness was the fact that it was a friday. So TGIF was going to be status update today on facebook.
Rhea wore a long Pakistani Kurta with Palazzo after her shower. Applied a bright lipstick and eyeliner , took her smart leather handback and left her home with the car keys in hand and goggles on her head.
She drove her city honda to school little earlier to beat the school traffic. After parking her and punching the biometric she was in her staffroom switching on the computer to begin the day.And it was only 7.40 am.
So this was her daily rountine. Light breakfast of cornflakes and green tea not because she was a fitness freak but because these things could be prepared in seconds. And each and every second counted in the morning.
She had already finished most of her work when the teachers and students started trickling in and suddenly the place became all noisey and cheerful with the students wishing"Good morning miss good morning ms" to their teachers.
Staffroom was noisier.Teachers who had become great friends over the years were excited to meet each other after a gap few hours. There was so much to be told.Dresses were admired with lots of ooohs and aaahs.Maids who came late today were cursed.School work which was increasing everyday was criticised in hushed tones.
The coordinater who allots the extra work and proxy of absent teachers gets dirty looks and groans which she completely ignores and continues with her job with a straight face.
Then the bell rings and thus starts the school.
Classteachers go to their classes snd the staffroom becomes empty once again except for a few teachers and the coordinator.
Teachers come and go from the staffroom throughout the day. They sit there only if they have a free period, a breaktime or the school is over. They heave a sigh of relief, open their tiffins, pour tea and start chattering.
