What you See?
By Dell Anne Raye
You will never see, the image I see,
When I look at me.
You will never see the pain,
Hidden so plain.
You will never see these tears,
Born of unnatural fears.
You will never see the scars,
Carefully makeup has done it’s part.
What will you see,
When you look at what is left of me?
Will you see the free spirit,
the one before he broke me?
Will you see the tracks of tears,
All that is left of me?
Gaze upon this outer shell,
True to form, it has been battered, born from hell.
Heed these things, of horror’s a soul will tell..
Atrocities, crimes hidden within my own hell.
These scars, read like a map,
Pin points of interest bearing every hit, every smack.
Where each word, syllable covered every fact,
Echoes of words that hurt, when from lover’s lips they were spat.
You will never see, the image I see.
When I look at me.
