In reading about Joe McCarthy and his treacherous assault on our government, I was amazed by the similarities of his modus operandi with that of tRump.
Both were/are masters of false charges and calculated disrespect for conventional leaders, institutions (State and Justice Departments) and the press. Both expert at awarding derogatory nicknames to their adversaries. Both always quick to exploit an issue such as isolationism, socialism or immigration to instigate division within our nation, catering only to their core constituency. Both always more interested in gaining partisan advantage over the best interests of our national security. 
But here is the thing, McCarthy was a Senator, tRump is President. His ultimate power position combined with the invasive and immediate impact of social media and 24/7 "breaking" cable news coverage makes tRump a McCarthy on steroids. tRump is a clear and present danger to our nation and the world. No doubt about it.
