Making a mistake 
Doesn’t make you a bad person
Achieving something 
Doesn’t make you a good one

Life is a series of ups and downs 
That directs our emotions 
To pleasure or discomfort 
Pain or elation 
 
Often times 
When our head hits the pillow
After the events of  the day 
Have transpired 

We review-and evaluate
Our reactions and feelings 
It’s then that our judging mode
May kick in

We  may not even  be aware of it
But over time 
These events build up
Consciously or with our subconscious 

Combine that with what others 
May say to you or about you
And the material is in place
For self evaluation to begin

Much of  it can depend 
On the value that others may have
As compared to the way 
You feel about yourself 

Taking stock really is influenced 
By your belief in yourself 
Is is hoped that we all find the positives 
To offset the negatives 

We all have something to offer 
 Belief- desire- courage  can lead us
 To a life with quality and the strength
 To persevere through hard times
