When I was twelve this is an assignment I had to do. I thought it would be cool to see what everyone else thinks.

Question: In the hunger games, What does President Snow mean when he says that hope is the only thing more powerful than fear? Do you agree with this? President Snow also says that a spark of hope is effective but a lot of hope is dangerous. Why would a president not want his people to have a lot of hope?

  • For most people in power, just a little hope is necessary to keep people from revolting but too much hope gives the power to the people. Politicians, kings and queens and tyrants have used this formula for centuries. It is wrong but sadly the way it is.

    Hope can be used as a motivator for people to take action-no hope can do the same-a little hope can act as a pacifier for the powers that be to maintain control This has been the formula by tyrants since time began Hope on an individual basis can give one the ability to overcome personal issues often over great odds -Hope in sense can be the key to opening the door to better quality of life

  • To me, I have always thought of "Hope" as a guiding force for us to motivate us to act out with our strengths. Like Jared mentioned, if the people have hope they may stand against their leaders. Kind of like what's happening in the United States right now. We have two poorly ran political groups grabbing for power, yet it's the man in the middle we need.
