If I were an artist, this is how I'd paint you...

with deep solid strokes, sweeping my brush ever so gently.

I wouldn't paint you by numbers, I'd rather take my time,

I would sketch you first, detailing each and every line.

I would use vibrant colours of every different hue,

I would do my utmost best to capture the essence of you.

I would hang your portrait on the wall and gaze at you often,

I would even talk to you and say the words unspoken.

See, when I look at you, this is what I see;

a man in many disguises, but you can't fool me.

You play the parts you like and you roll them all together,

you think that you can pull it off, you think that you're a master.

I'm not blind to all your flaws, and they often make me wonder,

how long are you going to keep this act, or do you plan to do this forever?

It is a blessing to have a brain and a heart too,

especially when they disagree and they argue.

Because when my heart flutters with the love you offer,

my brain screams, "Wait!  He's a good actor!"

I know it's not really me that you love, you just want someone in your corner.

To have that you've got to prove your worth, because I'm not buying your charming persona.

You're just another imperfect creature, trying to win me over,

but I'm not the fool to play that part, I am just way too clever.

Your charm isn't as smooth as you think, it's full of bullshit and lies,

it's also now full of crap when once upon a time it used to give me butterflies.

So the next time you want to tell me you love me, make sure your words are true,

don't try to spin me tales because then the joke's on you.
