There was nothing left anymore.

Not the bodies that swing and sways along with the music, nor the sound of playful children laughing as they struggle to find and catch one another.

No lights that lit up the street nights and no smell of roasted pheasants from small firepits alongside the roads.

No soul in sight, no hint of presence.

No sign of life, and yet... something lingers here still.

The stone that once held a memory, my cherished memory, becomes nothing more than common rubble and no different than the rest.

Ashes dance in the sky as small breezes sweep through the empty spaces that once had life in it.

The smell of burnt flesh becomes becomes the scent when entering inside this  particular stonewall. Wooden doors and tables withered down and metals rusted away with time.

Underneath a burned down table lies charred bodies. Upon closer inspection of a body, something familiar to me can be found on the hand of the deceased.

A ring.

A ring I once purchased from traveling merchants who stopped in our town for rest.

A ring I once gave to someone very important in my life.

A ring I once put on the hands of my beloved that I shared very valuable memories with and promised to protect for as long as I live.

Another inspection of the next reveals the next painful memory.

A necklace.

A necklace I had recognize from long ago.

A necklace that was very important to the first person I first meet in my story.

A necklace my father had given to the special ray in the endless lights of this world.

A necklace worn only by ... my mother.

My world breaks apart from this hit, like a mirror shattering from the force of reality.

Remaining in this world will only bring pain. There is nothing to keep you here anymore. With a chant in an ancient language, a distorted barrier opens up.

You take a glimpse behind one last time before stepping into the portal and vanishing into thin air.

There is nothin left anymore.

(Just a story I thought about while listening to sad songs and may want to continue.)
